I hate when the weather changes...

I always, ALWAYS, get sick. It never fails. So here I sit under the blankie with my computer.

ATM, I'm pretty sure USA is tied with Canada in the gold medal game. Come on USA!

I really have nothing just kind of bored. I'm going to knit on Jim's big green and red ball because he was playing with Tristan's and really liked it so I'll work on it some more. In the mean time I'm also still working on Nick's scarf, which was put away for a bi because I wanted to strangle it. I have Whitney's sack boy to do which I have cast on about 3 times now... I'm gonna choke the thing if he ever makes it far enough in production. Jimmy's hat is about half way done and I just cast on my first lace shawl. I believe that is everything on the needles right now since I finished the baby blanket for my cousin. I'll have to start on more baby stuff soon!

I'm going to curl up and knit. It would figure I finished my book yesterday.

Water Only Washing

I have been researching washing my hair without shampoo. There are several different ways listed online. Many include use of baking soda, lemon juice, and vinegar, which Sadie is using. I don't particularly care for the work that seems to go into it. In between making the baking soda mixture, and you have to put it on dry hair and blah blah blah. So I will be using the water only method. There is absolutely no products going into my hair, at all.

Here are some pictures of my hair now:

This is after wearing it in a ponytail for about a week and not washing it, so it's kind of gross feeling. I still took showers and lightly rinsed my hair to get the oils on top that were loose off. I'll post pics in about a week to see how it goes. I've been sort of using no 'poo on my kids as they don't care for getting their hair washed but I would wet it and scrub real good and rinse it. You dump water on their head and they go NUTS!

I'm thinking about cutting down other things as well. I'll tell you what I can come up with. Do you have any ideas?

Schedule and 100 Books!

First I'm going to tell you about my kids schedule. It's not set in stone and changes to suit our needs or temperaments for the day.

We usually wake up somewhere between 8 and 10. As soon as we wake up we change Jim's diaper(obviously), and Riley goes to the potty. We then eat breakfast, all together and in the kitchen. After breakfast varies between an hour of tv and the rest of the time spent playing, or we'll spend it all playing. Sometimes we'll go up to Sadie's house to play, it usually depends on Riley's temperament. We try to eat lunch around 11:45 and the kids go down for nap at noon. They tend to sleep until about 2. After that we have a small snack and play some more. On the days we go up to Sadie's we tend to stay up there most of the day. On days I go to work Steve works out the evening schedule on his own. But when I'm home we try to have dinner somewhere between 5:30 and 6. We'll have a small (I mean small) snack around 7:15. Then, it's bath time, story, and bed at 8. Once the kids go to bed, Steve and I will clean a little bit, and I'll usually knit while he plays a video game. Some nights we'll play a video game together or depending on if the neighbors are up for it we'll go next door and play Magic and Ashley and I will knit. It tends to get kind of crazy with all of us over at Ash's seeing as Ash and I have been friends since my fifth grade year and her and my husband went to high school together(in fact that's how we met). Then it's bed time for us, which this time varies greatly.

Book List And Lots of new stuff!!!(kind of picture heavy)

This week has been very busy! It's only Tuesday and it feels like it should be Friday! It all started Sunday night...

We put the kids down like normal and then went to work on the kitchen! The kitchen got cleaned top to bottom in 3 hours. I was down on the floor scrubbing with a brush! I cleaned and organize all the counter tops, cleaned and treated our wood kitchen table. We also switched the table around to open things up a bit differently as well. My neighbor, Sadie, began a touring Tuesday today and started with her kitchen. I was supposed to start today as well but it totally slipped my mind so we will be starting next week!

I got TONS of stuff in the post yesterday! First I will show you the book I have been waiting for for an entire month... Very irritably I might add.

Then I got my Knitpicks order. I was kind of disappointed it didn't come in a white box like I've seen around the net but eh well. I got 2 hanks of lace weight,

A skein of sock yarn,

and two balls of fingering weight,

And MY NEW KNITPICKS OPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please note that with the needle tips I also got cords which are underneath the tips in the picture. And as you can see I have already begun using them. I could barely get them out of the box before I was using them!

The last thing that came in the post yesterday( well actually it came first via ups but I'm sharing it last because it excites me most!) was my new FREE phone! I had waited two years, much to my husband's amusement and my annoyance, to get the full $150 rebate towards a phone from Sprint and finally qualified and I actually found a phone that I could get free with my rebate that I actually wanted! And Here it is:

It is the LG Rumor2 in orange! I love it! If you're not familiar with it, it slides out to(in this picture) the left to reveal a full qwerty keyboard! I love it and the qwerty keyboard is so nice and much easier than fiddling with hitting the numbers a million times or the phone not letting me enter a word because the phone itself doesn't know the word! So excited! I almost immediately went on facebook and twitter and added a bunch more text updates for them to send to my phone( I have unlimited text) just so I can use the keyboard! I'm lame I know!

I got one other thing yesterday but this was from Sadie rather than the mail. She apparently can't read a pattern to save her life so she gave me a book she bought on the cheap full of kiddie knits!

As my knitting needle and yarn collection grows so does my knitting book collection! And I'm not done yet!

My hubby took me out tonight and spoiled me a bit! We went to the mall because I had a coupon for Borders(join the rewards program they send you coupons CONSTANTLY!) and I had a book(knitting of course) I wanted to get. So We got this for 30% off.

I of course had to stop in the bargain book section and found these!

Each were on clearance for like 3 bucks! So I was super excited!

For the first time in an extremely long time I spent over $20 on a pair of shoes! I didn't even spend $20 on my  wedding shoes, mind you they didn't even get $100 out of me for my dress. But my shoes were falling apart and we found a pair that were actually made in the USA! They were also in my size, on clearance! It's like they were made for me! I spent $40 but I got New Balance which are really good, both my inlaws and my mom and her husband swear by them, and they're made right here is the US, which for my husband, is worth the 40 bucks alone! So here they are:

They're very comfortable but the true test is to see how well they wear especially against running after the kids. Well that's what I've been up to. I feel so spoiled right now but I don't get all this much stuff that often. I haven't had new shoes in a year! I feel they are deserved and I can't have my foot hanging out of my shoe while I'm chasing small children! That is all! Tomorrow you guys get my list of 100 books I've read so be ready!

Not done...

So I'm pretty sure Sadie is the only person who reads my blog but oh well....

I'm not completely done with my latest 100 list but as soon as I am I will post it. This one is 100 books I've read, most of which I have read within the last 2 to 3 years!

Yesterday we went to my dad's house and then to my mom's new house. It was nice to visit with family without the stress of moving like last week. Was that really just last week? Eh well.. It was nice to visit. I also got some knitting done. I did a few more rows on Jimmy's hat and started Whitney's sack boy for her visit home.

We were supposed to go paintballing today for Steve's birthday but we got rained out. I hate playing in mud.... We rescheduled for next Sunday so we'll see. Steve really likes paintballing, I'm indifferent. I'll do it and I kind of enjoy it but I don't think it's my cup of tea. I enjoy activities that calm me down. I'm constantly running after the kids so running after adults kind of bugs me. And then there's my asthma, which doesn't help at all...

So instead of paintballing I am cleaning and knitting today... I'm working on the kitchen first, well worked. Mostly because Steve had already thrown a load of dishes in the dishwasher and Jim was in there eating breakfast. I have the table mostly clean(why do we have such a big kitchen table?). Then while Jim is down for his nap I figure I'll move chairs and stuff out and clean underneath the table. How the kids are such messy eaters I'll never know.... Then I'll tackle the living room! Then call the landlord to come fix our water heater and knit while I wait so I may be knitting awhile... Our landlord has a very slow response rate.

Happy Birthday Steve!

Today my husband is 24.! Yay!

My birthday present to him was dinner and a cake. I have to wait to ice the cake and I will have a picture of it! But I do have pictures of the lasagna I made him. I used a recipe off of Allrecipes.com called Cajun Chicken Lasagna. Steve said it was really good and I thought so too. Needless to say its half gone already!

That's the chicken and Andouille.

The onion being chopped.(Yes Steve did it but only because had I tried to I would've hurt myself.)

This is the mixture of Andouille, Chicken, Onion, Orange Pepper, and Alfredo Sauce.

Starting to layout the Lasagna.

Before it went in the oven, topped with TONS of cheese!

Bake at 325 degrees for an hour and voila! Delicious spicy cheesy lasagna!

Now that took me long enough I have to go ice the cake... I'm not sure I have any more spatulas clean though!

Goals update and a 100 list...

So first I will update you on my goals... I'm going to copy pasta them for ease...

1. finish potty training Riley- proving very difficult, we know she knows when she is going but she won't go to the big potty
2. possibly potty train Jim- I have sat him on the training seat a few times but he just jumps right off to do other things
3. Teach Riley how to write her letters(0/26)- She shows interest and we have begun tracing the letters
4. do a thorough cleaning of house once a week so that it no longer gets out of control(2/49)- I've actually been more progress with this than I've been showing. Riley cleans her room at least once a week and I keep the living room fairly clean and the bedroom is getting there. I just have to get the clutter out.

5. set and follow a nightly routine. - We actually follow a basic schedule for the full day. So I have accomplished this.
6. Knit myself something- I'm getting ready to start myself some mittens and a capelet. And I have the pattern and some of the yarn for a sweater.
7. get rid of all the old clothes none of us wear. - I got rid of a bunch of stuff from when I was pregnant. I'm still going through things though.
8. organize bedroom.- All clothes are in the dresser. was able to clear out one set of plastic drawers. clearing my side of bed for sewing machine and table.
9. get sewing machine, iron, ironing board, wii(2/4)- We got the sewing machine(for free from my aunt), and the ironing board(free from my mom) and I'm going out on Thursday to get the iron.
10. dejunk-I've gotten rid of alot but still have alot to go through
11. get jim to feed himself- working with spoon, He'll eat most finger foods without incident with out having to break them up a lot.

12. pick up a new craft- I'm going to start sewing which I haven't done much of in the past.
13. knit a lap blanket in a nice yarn- have yarn
14. get new glasses
15. finish Riley's first year scrapbook- I found the scrapbook I had started
16. make Jim's first year scrapbook- no progress
17. get third desktop computer set up and working- no progress but one of the other desktops went down
18. clean computer desk- largely decluttered mainly has paperwork on it.
19. make library bags for kids(0/2)- looking at patterns

21. not necessarily lose weight but get into shape- got muscle tone video and resistance bands
22. help Riley with reading- working on small word recognition
23. reupholster rocking chair and ottoman- decided on color to reupholster in otherwise no progress
24. learn how to knit cables- no progress
25. read all of Riley's Dr. Seuss and Disney books to her one a night(0/ALOT!)- Not sure how many we've read but we've done a few. Need to figure out how to seperate which ones we've read and haven't read.

26. figure out a better way to organize knitting stuff or at least get it all in one spot- I have all of my knitting stuff, including books, needles, yarn, and works in progress in plastic drawers behind rocker/knitting chair in living room
27. have a date night with Steve at least once a month(2/12)- We went out in January to a concert, to see our good friends Achalachia play, and then went out in February for Valentine's a day early.
28. save up for a house- We will be saving a good hunk of taxes for a house.

I have also decided to add a few things...

29. Learn to knit socks.- I have two books and a pattern, some yarn, and a few good sets of needles.

New laptop!!

I'm posting this from my new laptop and I can honestly say I think I love it! It's technically a net book but I like it better than I liked my big laptop I got when I started college because it's smaller mostly, but also because it actually works. HAHA! It's tiny enough that I can dang near fit it in my purse!

We had a fairly rough Valentine's day weekend... On Saturday we moved my mom. My older brother, Scott, was going nuts all day and I'm pretty sure he would've ended up throwing or hurting something had my husband not been there to help. After that we went out to dinner for Valentine's. We went to Red Lobster which wasn't too bad, much better than I remembered. Sunday, we both woke up sick and I had to go to work that night. Steve drove me to work so I wouldn't have to deal with the weather on the way home. Well when he went to pull out of our neighborhood the car decided it wanted to go off roading and got stuck in some mud! He got it back out once he got me home in the truck. We also found out Sunday night that we got a virus on one of our desktop computers(we call it the green machine because it all lights up green). We were able to back up the stuff we needed and I scanned the external hard drive that we put it all on and none of the files we backed up were corrupted in any way thank god! So now the green machine is wiped and has windows back on it but we need to find all the drivers for the mother board and such.

In knitting news, I've gotten a few new books and some yarn and such. I got a hank of lace for a cape-let and a random skein of Kaleidescope wool. The kaleidescope is rainbow colored and I LOVE it! I'm going to make the cape-let in a pink. I got two sock knitting books so I'l be able to start learning to sock knit soon! I've actually kind of gotten somewhere on Jim's hat although I should probably concentrate a little harder on Nick's scarf....hehe. Oh and I ordered my stuff from KnitPicks and it has begun the shipping progress and I will post pictures when I get it! Can't wait!

I was able to graph out the pattern for one of my brother-in-law's birthday presents and I got the yarn and pattern for the other one and will start that soon... maybe. We got everything we needed for the sewing machine and Steve will be cutting a hole in the table for it to set in sometime in the next week.

I want to thank my good friend Sadie for mentioning me in her blog and for featuring my daughter as one of her models! Doesn't Riley just look adorable in that big old bow? I'm also stealing another couple of ideas from her but I'll post that later! Time for a grocery store trip and some dinner!

Moving?

I hope not but it's a possibility. One of our fully grown adult neighbors decided she was going to yell obscenities and other hurtful things at my neighbors 8 yr old child. It's like she's back in the third grade. So I don't want to give her the time of day to hurt or belittle my children seeing they are much younger. Continuing the topic of moving though, it seems both of my parents will be moving shortly and both of them closer to me. My dad will be moving out of and selling his house to move back in with his mom and dad to both help them out and  take care of them as well as saving a bit of money. My mom will be moving into a condo that's a bit closer as well.

We finally did laundry yesterday and it took up the entire bed of the truck. Now I have to fold it all... Not fun. And Steve can't fold to save his life. But he does dishes and I won't so I love him for that. Speaking of love Valentine's day is coming up and while I don't particularly care for the holiday, Steve and I will be spending some much needed time alone together. What are you guys doing for Valentines?

I have officially started the get Jim to eat with a spoon campaign and our first day out of the box was messy to say the least. I gave him oatmeal at breakfast because it is thicker and will stay on his spoon better and while he did try the spoon he pretty much ended up scooping it with his hands and eating it that way. At least he's not throwing his bowl and spoon on the floor like he used to. I have also begun getting rid of all the old clothes. I gave a few tank tops that I had when I was pregnant to my mom and aunt. They were just normal tank tops bought a few sizes too big to accommodate my growing belly so I figured they could use them as I didn't wear them out or anything. And I don't plan on having any more munchkins so we're clear there. The bedroom is getting cleaner day by day. I plan on cleaning out my side of the bed so we can put the sewing machine and table there.

I think that's about all. I need to finish one last basket of folding before I can go to the yarn store tonight. So off I go!

My first Hat

That's right my first hat! I made it for my friend JD and it turned out okay even if I did get impatient and cut it slightly short! I'm now making a hat for Jim and then going to make him a scarf more on that when I get closer to it though.

My laptop broke again but Steve said I might get one with taxes!!!

I also learned a few new cast ons. and Sadie wants me to try and make her flowers for hair bows so we'll see how that goes. I'll put pics of my works in progress up tomorrow maybe. I can't look at this big bright computer screen any longer so I'll update more later!

Oh and my little sister graduated high school!!!!
