This is my perfect little piece of paradise in a world that has gone loopy. It's not much but it's enough for me.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.comBlogger29125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-19929793215481451142011-04-08T23:01:00.000-07:002011-04-08T23:01:03.841-07:00New Goals, sort of...I know it's April so it's kind of late for the whole first of the year goals blog... BUT... Here I am doing one anyways...

So the hubs and I are kind of renovating our lives this month. We've set a budget and have been doing really good with it. We're changing the way we do alot of things around the house. We're taking out alot of the old and bringing in some new. Think of it as a month long spring cleaning extravaganza!

It all started with me being tired of working one or two nights a week at the local Target. So I sat down with my pen and paper and wrote down all of our monthly expenses, the normal things that come through our house every month, rent, phone bill, water, electric, car insurance, even groceries and gas. Well sitting down and looking at it all really opened my eyes... being kind of generous with things like gas and groceries, and even overestimating a small amount on water and electric, as they fluctuate, we still had more than enough money. I wrote it all out and showed hubs and he says as long as things go okay we can talk about me possibly staying home.

So with that big change I decided a few more changes were in order as well. I mean if I'm staying home with the kids, I may as well work with the kids on getting down a better schedule. Working closing shifts at Target I don't get home until anywhere between 9 and 11:30. I'm dead tired and do not want to deal with children bright and early the next morning so I usually just let them sleep until they wake up and I sleep as well. But Ri will be starting school next year and she needs to get used to waking up early. I now have my alarm set for 8 AM and am out of bed by 8:30... they usually wake up to my alarm so there is no snooze button.

Now that the weather has warmed up we go out alot as well. Ri has a new friend as does mommy and we go visit with them or we all go to the park. Its nice being outside and having fun. It also burns alot of the kids energy.

I have also stopped buying yarn. I am on the dreaded yarn diet. I didn't consciously choose it but rather it just sort of happened. I haven't bought yarn in a month. I have looked but I haven't bought. I'm very proud. And I have lots of projects lined out to keep me busy and not needing yarn for a long while. Yay!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-14233502974230292922010-12-27T15:13:00.000-08:002010-12-27T15:13:48.175-08:00The first post in a long time, and the last one for the year!Well I've been awfully busy! I got asked to make a few things for some friends! A few hats and a few amigurumi, so that helped keep me very busy! But all of it is done and I won't be taking any projects for others on for a little bit. I have a hat and mittens I need to make my oldest and I have a cowl on the needles for my self!

In other news, we had a really good Christmas here and a really good year all together! The kids got plenty of new toys and we'll be going through all their old toys to get rid of all the broken toys and ones that are missing pieces and the ones they no longer play with. They got me a big box of yarn! And we got Steve a new toolbox. My dad was very generous this year and got us a PS Move and I love it!

I got a lot of my goals accomplished.
1. Riley is fully potty trained and has been for about 6 or 7 months now.
2. Jim is totally not interested in potty training and we need to get him talking as well.
3. Riley can't really figure out how to trace the letters and such but we're trying.
4. The house is fairly clean except for Steve and I's room.
5. We follow a routine all day and don't tend to stray from it.
6. The knit myself something didn't work out so well... But I crocheted myself a headband!
7. I got rid of all the old clothes except a few things I'll be giving my niece.
8. Organizing the bedroom didn't work but I do know where everything is... most of the time.
9. We got a PS move instead of a Wii but I think I like our move better and all the rest were received as gifts.
10. We got rid of ALOT of stuff but still have some stuff we don't use alot...
11. Jim completely feeds himself.
12. I'm sewing alot more.
13. Never got around to that lap blanket.
14. Didn't get new glasses.
15. Packed up all the scrapbooking supplies and haven't drug them all back out.
16. See above.
17. Haven't had any patience with the computers so haven't fixed it yet.
18. The desk looks better than it did last year...
19. The kids decided they wanted to use their nick jr. backpacks instead.
20. Did not make dish soap.
21. I've lost a bit of weight and am not quite as squishy as I was.
22. Riley can read bits and pieces but I don't think she realizes it.
23. We fixed the glider but have not reupholstered it. When we do we'll most likely give it to Steve's parents.
24. Made a cabled headband.
25. Read most of them but not all.
26. I have all my knitting stuff in between two totes in the bedroom and in a couple boxes next to the couch in the living room.
27. I dunno if we had a date night every month or not but probably not.
28. Steve got laid off and our savings went down the tube. We have the bills caught up and now that Christmas is over we can start saving up again.
29. I have my first sock almost done, I have turned the heel and just have the ankle and ribbing left.
30. I did not get back into theatre:(

So Yeah. Looking forward to another busy year and hopefully a new job coming soon... But more on that if it actually works out.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-15917806481825441902010-06-21T21:52:00.000-07:002010-06-21T21:52:40.136-07:00Goals update!1. finish potty training Riley- Riley is in big girl undies 100% of the time! even at night with NO accidents!
We're working on moving and as my good friend said I needed to get out of my apartment because I need something I can be proud of. This is such a true statement I almost died. I can't remember the last time I was proud of something that I did and I brought through. It's been all about my kids learning new things and my husband's success at work. Which is NOT a bad thing, not in the least I love my husband and kids more than anything. But I've been out of my parent's house for almost 4 years now and I have no "accomplishments" of my own to show for it. We're so crammed in our apartment that no matter how much I clean it doesn't actually look clean and that depresses me which gets me into a bad state of mind. Which gets me thinking about things....

I have several people I feel that I am good friends with but have no idea where I stand in their eyes. I don't know how to approach them about it. I feel as if I try and try and try to include them in my life and they can never show up. I try to show up to as much of their stuff as I can barring work and kids and stuff but I never seem to be invited to stuff I actually can or would make a point to attend. When I do talk to them it's because they've found out something big is going on with my life and I get stressed and I feel like I'm just bitching to them and I don't find that fair. So if you're reading this and you've figured out who you are please tell me what our relationship is to you because I am so confused and I've smugged the line so much I'm not sure where it started anymore...

Then I was cruising around facebook one day being bored( bad idea just fyi) and found a bunch of people from my high school who have done way cool things since graduating that I've never even thought about doing. Hence the starting a bucket list. Now I'm sure most of it is because I have a family that I attend to and they didn't. I've had all the same opportunities as these kids just used them is different ways. I don't regret at all having a family but I am a dreamer and my mind does wander. I really wish it didn't sometimes.

I wish I could write down everything I'm feeling but I'm such a mess right now I don't even know what it is I'm feeling. I look at people, observe them, and I wonder when they smile is it real? is it forced? or is it completely fake? I try not to fake anything and if you know me well enough you know that. I wear my emotions on my sleeve which makes it hard. I feel like erupting in tears and I don't know why. I want to sleep all the time and I don't know why. Maybe not having the "college experience" and normal teenage life is finally catching up to me. I wanna just yell and scream and get everything from forever out. I want to be able to cry in my daddy's arms again and not be seen as the teenage mom or whatever other stereotypes people plug on me.

I am a 21 year old wife and mother of two. I am a music enthusiast, a theatre aficionado, a knitting dork and deep lover of people. I love without caution. I don't think my poor husband knows what to make of this yet. It makes being a friend of mine hard. I'm not a cleancut Stepford wife or perfect daughter or perfect mother. I have fat on my body( that my husband won't admit to), I lose my temper, sometimes I cry myself to sleep when its been a hard day, I have self confidence issues, I clean to take my mind off things.

I really think and hope that getting a bigger home for our family will help me get out of this funk. I don't like feeling confined and in this apartment that is how I feel. I can't go out as the car doesn't have working AC and staying in depresses me. My home is a mess and I have nothing I can do about it. I try so hard to help my husband but feel like my efforts are futile. I don't earn enough to make much of a difference, I clean endlessly and you can't tell. I am so lucky to have such good friends in my neighbors and I really don't know what I would do with out them. Hmmm I think I'm done now, I feel a bit better. I'm sorry for ranting and I will post my Bucket List when I have a good start on it...Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-49379313092873796392010-06-07T18:53:00.000-07:002010-06-07T18:53:00.504-07:00Lake Trip...First I want to say that I'm sorry I haven't written in forever. I've been stressed out with alot of things. I haven't even been knitting that much. I keep starting projects and then they just sit...

We've gone down to our friend's farm a couple times and we really like it. We went mother's day weekend without the kids as a mother's day present to me and this last weekend we took them with us. They loved it! We went out on the boat and went swimming. They really loved the boat ride, they stood at the little gate on the pontoon boat and let the wind fly through their hair and the water hit their face. Steve and I of course got sunburnt but they didn't. Riley also caught her first fish! She caught a total of two fish, a largemouth bass and a blue gill. She was very excited about this. We spent most of Saturday blowing bubbles and chasing the dogs. I can see this as being a big thing for them as they're growing up. I remember going to the lake all the time when I was a kid and those are some of my best memories.

I cast on a lace shawl(twice). We've all been worn down lately. Riley had yet another ear infection...ugh.

Our weekend was jam packed. Saturday we had two birthday parties. The first was for my younger cousin and the second was for one of Riley's friends. By the time we got home we were beat and the kids pretty much just passed out. Sunday Steve went paintballing for the first time in ages. I stayed at home with the kids who were much more cranky and clingy than normal. We went to dinner that night as a family and it went well but towards the end Riley was complaining of an ear ache. She laid down in my lap the rest of the meal and when we got home the kids went right out again.

The action didn't sop at the weekend either. Monday we headed right up to my dad's house and visited with him a few hours. Both of the kids think he's a riot. Then we headed down the street to my mom's and had dinner with her and my stepdad. On the way home I was able to con Steve into stopping at JoAnn's because I had coupons! I ended up getting some cotton yarn for dishcloths, a few long darning needles, and the final bits of items for my quilting project, oh and an exacto knife and mat on clearance for $3! The kids of course fell asleep no problem again.

Today we went to see Steve's parents so I am not able to do a Touring Tuesday but will be back with one tomorrow hopefully. Or maybe later tonight, I was going to do the bathroom so it should be quick but I am beat.

We also found out that my cousin(as well as one of my closest friends) is having a little girl!!!!!!!! She just entered her 16th week of pregnancy and had a hard time getting pregnant let alone getting this far in a pregnancy so please send her good thoughts. She has diabetes and has had it since were kids and its been interfering with her becoming pregnant and is now making her fairly sick. She has an insulin pump and that is helping quite a bit from what I understand.

I said before I cast on my first lace shawl and it is going great. I really enjoy it. My good friend Ashley is knitting it with me and she works bit faster so I'm trying to catch up. One advantage to me being slower though is that I'm much more meticulous about my stitches and she has needed me to comb through and figure out what she did. It makes me feel kind of good though since she's been knitting a slightly longer amount of time than I have.

For my final update and the thing I am most proud of:

Riley pooed in the big potty!
Although I ended up having to change her pull up 5 minutes later anyway because she got up a bit too soon.

That is all for now. Happy knitting!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-84714688718416274112010-03-03T19:38:00.000-08:002010-03-03T19:38:58.645-08:00A goal ACHIEVED!I have gotten rid of all the old clothes that were sitting in my closet that none of us wore anymore. I do still have to go through most of the kids clothes in their closet. And I have started my lace shawl and it is going swimmingly although last night we had a bit of a freak out when I dropped a few stitches.. I was able to pick them all back up though.

My water heater is officially fixed and I can now put all the paintball and fishing stuff away again! So then tomorrow I can go through the corner by the couch in the living room. I think I may type up a list of all the books Riley has so that I can keep track of what ones I have read to her and the ones that have been read already will be read again. Oh well..

I think that's all for now.... I'm working on thinking up a 100 list but not sure what to do.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-38970796719327383192010-03-02T22:39:00.000-08:002010-03-02T22:39:31.838-08:00Touring Tuesday- BedroomI am starting a touring Tuesday and for the first Tuesday we will be taking a look at my bedroom. It never fails. So here I sit under the blankie with my computer.

ATM, I'm pretty sure USA is tied with Canada in the gold medal game. Come on USA!

I really have nothing just kind of bored. I'm going to knit on Jim's big green and red ball because he was playing with Tristan's and really liked it so I'll work on it some more. In the mean time I'm also still working on Nick's scarf, which was put away for a bi because I wanted to strangle it. I have Whitney's sack boy to do which I have cast on about 3 times now... I'm gonna choke the thing if he ever makes it far enough in production. Jimmy's hat is about half way done and I just cast on my first lace shawl. I believe that is everything on the needles right now since I finished the baby blanket for my cousin. I'll have to start on more baby stuff soon!

I'm going to curl up and knit. It would figure I finished my book yesterday.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-81871568949476826452010-02-25T15:55:00.000-08:002010-02-25T15:55:00.461-08:00Water Only WashingI have been researching washing my hair without shampoo. There are several different ways listed online. Many include use of baking soda, lemon juice, and vinegar, which Sadie is using. I don't particularly care for the work that seems to go into it. In between making the baking soda mixture, and you have to put it on dry hair and blah blah blah. So I will be using the water only method. There is absolutely no products going into my hair, at all.

Here are some pictures of my hair now:

This is after wearing it in a ponytail for about a week and not washing it, so it's kind of gross feeling. I still took showers and lightly rinsed my hair to get the oils on top that were loose off. I'll post pics in about a week to see how it goes. I've been sort of using no 'poo on my kids as they don't care for getting their hair washed but I would wet it and scrub real good and rinse it. You dump water on their head and they go NUTS!

I'm thinking about cutting down other things as well. I'll tell you what I can come up with. Do you have any ideas?

It's not set in stone and changes to suit our needs or temperaments for the day.

We usually wake up somewhere between 8 and 10. As soon as we wake up we change Jim's diaper(obviously), and Riley goes to the potty. We then eat breakfast, all together and in the kitchen. After breakfast varies between an hour of tv and the rest of the time spent playing, or we'll spend it all playing. Sometimes we'll go up to Sadie's house to play, it usually depends on Riley's temperament. We try to eat lunch around 11:45 and the kids go down for nap at noon. They tend to sleep until about 2. After that we have a small snack and play some more. On the days we go up to Sadie's we tend to stay up there most of the day. On days I go to work Steve works out the evening schedule on his own. But when I'm home we try to have dinner somewhere between 5:30 and 6. We'll have a small (I mean small) snack around 7:15. Then, it's bath time, story, and bed at 8. Once the kids go to bed, Steve and I will clean a little bit, and I'll usually knit while he plays a video game. Some nights we'll play a video game together or depending on if the neighbors are up for it we'll go next door and play Magic and Ashley and I will knit. It tends to get kind of crazy with all of us over at Ash's seeing as Ash and I have been friends since my fifth grade year and her and my husband went to high school together(in fact that's how we met). Then it's bed time for us, which this time varies greatly.

It's only Tuesday and it feels like it should be Friday! It all started Sunday night...

We put the kids down like normal and then went to work on the kitchen! The kitchen got cleaned top to bottom in 3 hours. I was down on the floor scrubbing with a brush! I cleaned and organize all the counter tops, cleaned and treated our wood kitchen table. We also switched the table around to open things up a bit differently as well. My neighbor, Sadie, began a touring Tuesday today and started with her kitchen. I was supposed to start today as well but it totally slipped my mind so we will be starting next week!

I got TONS of stuff in the post yesterday! First I will show you the book I have been waiting for for an entire month... Very irritably I might add.

And as you can see I have already begun using them. I could barely get them out of the box before I was using them!

The last thing that came in the post yesterday( well actually it came first via ups but I'm sharing it last because it excites me most!) was my new FREE phone! I had waited two years, much to my husband's amusement and my annoyance, to get the full $150 rebate towards a phone from Sprint and finally qualified and I actually found a phone that I could get free with my rebate that I actually wanted! And Here it is:

It is the LG Rumor2 in orange! I love it! If you're not familiar with it, it slides out to(in this picture) the left to reveal a full qwerty keyboard! I love it and the qwerty keyboard is so nice and much easier than fiddling with hitting the numbers a million times or the phone not letting me enter a word because the phone itself doesn't know the word! So excited! I almost immediately went on facebook and twitter and added a bunch more text updates for them to send to my phone( I have unlimited text) just so I can use the keyboard! I'm lame I know!

I got one other thing yesterday but this was from Sadie rather than the mail. She apparently can't read a pattern to save her life so she gave me a book she bought on the cheap full of kiddie knits!

As my knitting needle and yarn collection grows so does my knitting book collection! And I'm not done yet!

My hubby took me out tonight and spoiled me a bit! We went to the mall because I had a coupon for Borders(join the rewards program they send you coupons CONSTANTLY!) and I had a book(knitting of course) I wanted to get. So We got this for 30% off.

I of course had to stop in the bargain book section and found these!

Each were on clearance for like 3 bucks! So I was super excited!

For the first time in an extremely long time I spent over $20 on a pair of shoes! I didn't even spend $20 on my wedding shoes, mind you they didn't even get $100 out of me for my dress. But my shoes were falling apart and we found a pair that were actually made in the USA! They were also in my size, on clearance! It's like they were made for me! I spent $40 but I got New Balance which are really good, both my inlaws and my mom and her husband swear by them, and they're made right here is the US, which for my husband, is worth the 40 bucks alone! So here they are:

They're very comfortable but the true test is to see how well they wear especially against running after the kids. Well that's what I've been up to. I feel so spoiled right now but I don't get all this much stuff that often. I haven't had new shoes in a year! I feel they are deserved and I can't have my foot hanging out of my shoe while I'm chasing small children! That is all! Tomorrow you guys get my list of 100 books I've read so be ready!
Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-20176779207562995292010-02-21T09:54:00.000-08:002010-02-21T09:54:35.141-08:00Not done...So I'm pretty sure Sadie is the only person who reads my blog but oh well....

I'm not completely done with my latest 100 list but as soon as I am I will post it. This one is 100 books I've read, most of which I have read within the last 2 to 3 years!

Yesterday we went to my dad's house and then to my mom's new house. It was nice to visit with family without the stress of moving like last week. Was that really just last week? Eh well.. It was nice to visit. I also got some knitting done. I did a few more rows on Jimmy's hat and started Whitney's sack boy for her visit home.

We were supposed to go paintballing today for Steve's birthday but we got rained out. I hate playing in mud.... We rescheduled for next Sunday so we'll see. Steve really likes paintballing, I'm indifferent. I'll do it and I kind of enjoy it but I don't think it's my cup of tea. I enjoy activities that calm me down. I'm constantly running after the kids so running after adults kind of bugs me. And then there's my asthma, which doesn't help at all...

So instead of paintballing I am cleaning and knitting today... I'm working on the kitchen first, well worked. Mostly because Steve had already thrown a load of dishes in the dishwasher and Jim was in there eating breakfast. I have the table mostly clean(why do we have such a big kitchen table?). Then while Jim is down for his nap I figure I'll move chairs and stuff out and clean underneath the table. How the kids are such messy eaters I'll never know.... Then I'll tackle the living room! Then call the landlord to come fix our water heater and knit while I wait so I may be knitting awhile... Our landlord has a very slow response rate.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-18598651732958142272010-02-17T21:51:00.000-08:002010-02-17T21:51:45.878-08:00Happy Birthday Steve!Today my husband is 24.! Yay!

My birthday present to him was dinner and a cake. I have to wait to ice the cake and I will have a picture of it! But I do have pictures of the lasagna I made him. I used a recipe off of Allrecipes.com called Cajun Chicken Lasagna. It's technically a net book but I like it better than I liked my big laptop I got when I started college because it's smaller mostly, but also because it actually works. HAHA! It's tiny enough that I can dang near fit it in my purse!

We had a fairly rough Valentine's day weekend... On Saturday we moved my mom. My older brother, Scott, was going nuts all day and I'm pretty sure he would've ended up throwing or hurting something had my husband not been there to help. After that we went out to dinner for Valentine's. We went to Red Lobster which wasn't too bad, much better than I remembered. Sunday, we both woke up sick and I had to go to work that night. Steve drove me to work so I wouldn't have to deal with the weather on the way home. Well when he went to pull out of our neighborhood the car decided it wanted to go off roading and got stuck in some mud! He got it back out once he got me home in the truck. We also found out Sunday night that we got a virus on one of our desktop computers(we call it the green machine because it all lights up green). We were able to back up the stuff we needed and I scanned the external hard drive that we put it all on and none of the files we backed up were corrupted in any way thank god! So now the green machine is wiped and has windows back on it but we need to find all the drivers for the mother board and such.

In knitting news, I've gotten a few new books and some yarn and such. I got a hank of lace for a cape-let and a random skein of Kaleidescope wool. The kaleidescope is rainbow colored and I LOVE it! I'm going to make the cape-let in a pink. I got two sock knitting books so I'l be able to start learning to sock knit soon! I've actually kind of gotten somewhere on Jim's hat although I should probably concentrate a little harder on Nick's scarf....hehe. Oh and I ordered my stuff from KnitPicks and it has begun the shipping progress and I will post pictures when I get it! Can't wait!

I was able to graph out the pattern for one of my brother-in-law's birthday presents and I got the yarn and pattern for the other one and will start that soon... maybe. We got everything we needed for the sewing machine and Steve will be cutting a hole in the table for it to set in sometime in the next week.

I want to thank my good friend Sadie for mentioning me in her blog and for featuring my daughter as one of her models! Doesn't Riley just look adorable in that big old bow? I'm also stealing another couple of ideas from her but I'll post that later! Time for a grocery store trip and some dinner!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-61686762923623309342010-02-11T12:51:00.000-08:002010-02-11T12:51:31.326-08:00Moving?I hope not but it's a possibility. One of our fully grown adult neighbors decided she was going to yell obscenities and other hurtful things at my neighbors 8 yr old child. It's like she's back in the third grade. So I don't want to give her the time of day to hurt or belittle my children seeing they are much younger. Continuing the topic of moving though, it seems both of my parents will be moving shortly and both of them closer to me. My dad will be moving out of and selling his house to move back in with his mom and dad to both help them out and take care of them as well as saving a bit of money. My mom will be moving into a condo that's a bit closer as well.

We finally did laundry yesterday and it took up the entire bed of the truck. Now I have to fold it all... Not fun. And Steve can't fold to save his life. But he does dishes and I won't so I love him for that. Speaking of love Valentine's day is coming up and while I don't particularly care for the holiday, Steve and I will be spending some much needed time alone together. What are you guys doing for Valentines?

I have officially started the get Jim to eat with a spoon campaign and our first day out of the box was messy to say the least. I gave him oatmeal at breakfast because it is thicker and will stay on his spoon better and while he did try the spoon he pretty much ended up scooping it with his hands and eating it that way. At least he's not throwing his bowl and spoon on the floor like he used to. I have also begun getting rid of all the old clothes. I gave a few tank tops that I had when I was pregnant to my mom and aunt. They were just normal tank tops bought a few sizes too big to accommodate my growing belly so I figured they could use them as I didn't wear them out or anything. And I don't plan on having any more munchkins so we're clear there. The bedroom is getting cleaner day by day. I plan on cleaning out my side of the bed so we can put the sewing machine and table there.

I think that's about all. I need to finish one last basket of folding before I can go to the yarn store tonight. So off I go!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-38210864664713570552010-02-06T00:00:00.000-08:002010-02-06T00:00:03.528-08:00My first HatThat's right my first hat! I made it for my friend JD and it turned out okay even if I did get impatient and cut it slightly short! I'm now making a hat for Jim and then going to make him a scarf more on that when I get closer to it though.

My laptop broke again but Steve said I might get one with taxes!!!

I also learned a few new cast ons. and Sadie wants me to try and make her flowers for hair bows so we'll see how that goes. I'll put pics of my works in progress up tomorrow maybe. I can't look at this big bright computer screen any longer so I'll update more later!

Oh and my little sister graduated high school!!!!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-58085697891595431492010-01-31T22:06:00.000-08:002010-01-31T22:06:30.128-08:00The Elusive Magic LoopI've done it! After millions of tries( okay maybe not millions but a whole lot anyways) I have successfully magic loop knitted!!!

And We cleaned the living room and rearranged the furniture. Next objective is the kitchen! And I have completed a few goals I think, and am extremely close to another! I have started thorough cleanings, and we are doing not just a nightly routine but we have a general routine we follow all day every day! I'm getting a sewing machine on Saturday from my aunt, I've thrown away a good amount of stuff we either don't use anymore or were hanging onto for no reason, I have some of the yarn to make my lap blanket just have to find a pattern. I guess I didn't really accomplish this goal, Steve did, but the computer desk is mostly clean just have to go through a little bit more. And I organized my knitting corner in the living room. That should be everything so far.

I found out that my sister is coming back home for a few days at the end of March! She really likes the game Little Big Planet for the PS3 so I'm knitting her a sackboy. But rather than stuffing the body with regular stuffing we're going to put things in there to remind her of us when she's homesick or just misses us. I'll post pics of how it comes along and once she has it in her hands I'll post pics of what I put in there.

I'm about done with the baby blanket I'm making for one of my cousins. I hope to be done by Wednesday. Then I'll start on the hat and socks. Maybe I'll magic loop them. I'll probably have to wait for my knitpicks to come in though.

Which reminds me, We filed taxes today so I'll be able to place my knitpicks order soon and I can't wait!

Off to bed... Too much excitement for one day!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-22642488553329504122010-01-29T15:16:00.000-08:002010-01-29T15:16:34.533-08:00Broken Camaro and a few new shelvesSteve got the truck licensed yesterday and immediately had a job for it. An old friend had his Camaro break down on him on the other side of St. Louis and needed some help getting it home and us having a truck helped him out. Which took all day yesterday and wasn't accomplished so they came home. They hung out at the house for a bit before Steve's friend fell asleep because he works nights and hadn't been asleep in nearly 24 hours. So bright and early this morning they went and tried again and got it this time.

While Steve was busy with that I was at my neighbor's helping her with her project. She wanted to make shelves for her room and her kids room but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. So we went to Home Depot and got all of the supplies for two shelves which came out to around $15. When we got home she sanded the wood down and painted one of the shelves and we installed the "L" brackets and knocked around on the walls to find some studs(many jokes were made, in between studs and screws and wood, we just couldn't help ourselves). We screwed the shelves onto the wall where they would be anchored on studs. I think the most fun of the entire day was joking about the fact that she got the screws from my husband and she's a lesbian. Eh well.

I found out that another cousin of mine is having a baby in 9 months so I'm making them a few things. I found a few really cute things and they wanted neutral colors so I already had the yarn in my stash. I also found a cool bag for my longer knitting needles because it's long and skinny. I asked Steve the other night if when we got taxes back I could spend around $80 on knitting stuff and he said YES!!! So I've been on KnitPicks because that's where I decided I wanted to get my stuff from and I figured out what I wanted to get. But you'll have to wait until I get my package in the mail to find out what! I'll even post pictures for you! I'm very very excited.

All in all it's been a pretty busy last few days here but I wouldn't have it any other way! I think I'll start on that baby blanket now so I have one baby's stuff done and can concentrate on the other baby's stuff when we find out the sex.!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-29343230988780650672010-01-27T23:15:00.000-08:002010-01-27T23:15:55.262-08:00Accomplishing Nothing...I have been super super lazy and have accomplished nothing. I tried to learn lace knitting but my tension is too tight still so I have to work on that. The kids have been in bad moods so I'm not trying anything with them. Speaking of kids here is Jim's lovely gash...

You can see it there on his eyebrow. It was not fun getting this picture. He was sitting on my lap in the rocking chair which he loves to make rock so of course he wasn't sitting still, he kept grabbing after the camera and his sister kept trying to get in the picture. It looks a lot worse in person and up close. I'm constantly holding him so it's always right there staring me in the face.

We're getting the truck licensed tomorrow and Steve is already putting it to use. First he has to tow an old buddy's car home from the other side of St. Louis. Then, he's loading up a couch for our neighbors. He went grocery shopping tonight by himself and spent $100. I don't know how because he moans and groans every time I put something in the cart. But he did get good food that will feed a family of four for a week which is good.

Sadie put me up to possibly making a few ehow articles. The first I'd make to explain how I made my centerpieces from my wedding, and I figure I can do one on the bouquets I made for my wedding as well. Then I will be making my own yarn swift in a few weeks and I can write an article on that.

I didn't get any cleaning done today which means I have to clean two things tomorrow but I did the dishes last night so that was good. I don't do dishes, ever.

I found the sweater I am going to make myself, so that goal is getting somewhere. I also found the yarn I will be making it with and I'm getting it in a few weeks!!!
I wasn't paying attention. It happens.
She's not the prettiest thing but I love it. It's just a work truck but all the same. We're hoping to get it licensed on Wednesday.

I forgot to get a picture of little man's gash but hopefully will tomorrow. Steve made some amazing dinner tonight. It was chicken and mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes and egg noodles all mixed together. YUM! We also made some chocolate chip bread with white and regular chocolate chips!

I'm about a quarter of the way through my dishcloth and about an eighth of the way through Nick's scarf. I showed Nick what I have of his scarf so far and he loves it. YAY!

I wanna cast on to practice cables and lace so bad and I don't know which one I want to do more but I know I have to wait until I finish something. :-(... sad.

I started to try and teach Ri to write the letter A but it didn't work so well. I then did alot of research and came up with alot of ideas. I think I'm going to start by having her trace things. I've begun to really go by a daily and nightly schedule and the kids are getting used to it and not throwing as many fits. Steve and I also went on a date of sorts so that's part of that goal.

Steve went to his raise committee tonight and got his raise as well as all of his fittings approved! I'm so proud of him, he does so well for himself. He said something about needing to work on something to show his soldering has improved though. Which reminds me his soldering iron was decommissioned the last time he used it so last night when he was fixing the CB radio in the truck he made a makeshift one which I must say was very good. And he fixed the radio.

Do you guys have any exciting happy stories to tell?Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-16741222435024482502010-01-24T10:58:00.000-08:002010-01-24T10:58:15.649-08:001987 Chevy CustomSorry I didn't post yesterday but I made two posts the other day so that kind of makes up for it, right???

Well yesterday we got a truck. It's an old truck, yes, but it will do what we need it to. Hubby mostly wanted a work truck. We got a good deal on it and now he has a new toy. He's going to do a fair amount of fixing up on it and I plan on doing a fair amount of driving it. He had to have seen it coming right?

I also made the kids letter, color and number books yesterday. I plan on making an animal book, things that move book, senses book, body parts book, a family book, and an about me book for each of them as well. I was thinking for Valentine's Day me and the hubbs could to an I love you book for each of the kids as well. I might see about laminating their books eventually just because I've already had to replace the L page in the oldest's alphabet book.

Not a lot of progress has been made on Nick's scarf. I think I added half a square, give or take a few rows. I do however have about 2 more inches on my dishcloth. Darn being a slow knitter! Oh well, that's all for now. I will add pictures of the truck and little man's gash momentarily.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151340899882325358.post-45075666288092417332010-01-22T20:38:00.000-08:002010-01-22T20:38:42.661-08:00Sitting and IbuprofenSo I called my doctor to day because I was having a weird cramp in my stomach and you know what he says? He goes just stay off your feet and take 4 ibuprofen every 6 hours. Alright doc I have no problem with this, this gives me an excuse to just sit and knit all day. Believe me that is just fine with me. But somehow I only got one row on my dishcloth done and I think 4 rows on the scarf done.

I was sitting today just like I was told. My kids, they had other ideas. One of the genius ideas was to fight on Monster girl's bed. Why? I don't know. But I heard it and headed in and got to where I could see them just in time to watch Monster push her little brother off the bed. I immediately went for him to see if he was okay and noticed something above his eye at first I thought it was dirt, on closer inspection it was blood. I sent the monster to time out to be dealt with in a moment went to the bathroom and got little man all cleaned and bandaged up. He now has a nice gash in his eyebrow that I'm sure will scar efficiently(should probably come up with a better story than his sister pushing him off the bed though, because what good is a scar without a cool story?). After making sure he was okay and giving him back rub and cup, I went to go talk to my little monster. She has always had the tendency to be physical, she has 4 uncles and lots of boy cousins. When we asked her what happened she said she didn't know. I told her that brother was going to be okay but that she gave him a big owie and that she needed to be nicer and more careful. I then told her she could get up when she said sorry and after about an hour, nothing. So I went in there to tell her to go to the bathroom and then make sure she went back into her bed. Well dinner rolled around and there was still nothing so I went to go get her so she could eat. She was sleeping... Dang kid fell asleep in time out. eh well...

Not looking forward to hearing from everyone and explaining to everyone what happened to little man. AT ALL. That's all for today though I think I'm going to go knit.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597885465738717072noreply@blogger.com1
